The Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies (CAIRNS) has released a "Tribes in South Dakota" flashcard set, which consists of nine business-card sized cards. Each features the flag of one of the nine tribes in South Dakota on one side, with basic facts about that tribe and its land base on the other side. The cards can be purchased from their online store.
Access to Capital and Credit in Native Communities Report | Data Review
The Native Nations Institute at The University of Arizona released a Data Review to accompany the Access to Capital and Credit in Native Communities Report commissioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. The Data Review's three main sections summarize data describing access to capital and credit for Native consumers, Native business owners, and tribal communities and governments. Its companion document, the Report, identifies success stories within a more detailed topical analysis. The full two-part study is intended to provide research and analysis in support of improving access to capital and credit in Native Communities.

This webinar will feature the lead authors of the CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) and companion commentary, who will address the research findings and recommendations for reducing potentially preventable deaths. Also featured will be a program funded by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy to share best practices and successes in their endeavor to reduce obesity, one of the major risk factors contributing to a number of the leading causes of death as cited by CDC.
